Vikings' Christian Darrisaw: Estimated as full go for Friday
Darrisaw (knee) was estimated as a full practice participant Friday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Although the Vikings didn't practice Friday, Darrisaw was estimated as a full participant, a major upgrade over his DNP at Thursday's session. The 2021 first-round pick is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL sustained last October, but Friday's full practice estimation suggests he has a chance to return for Minnesota's regular-season opener Monday night against the Bears.

Darrisaw (knee) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
Darrisaw is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACl and MCL in his left knee that he suffered last October. The 2021 first-rounder will have two more opportunities to return to practice and avoid an injury tag heading into Monday's regular-season opener against Chicago. Darrisaw is expected to serve as the Vikings' starting left tackle this season, but if he's unable to play, Justin Skule and Walter Rouse would be the top candidates to fill in at the blindside for Week 1.

Van Ginkel (neck) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Van Ginkel was unable to practice for most of August due to an undisclosed injury, and it's unclear whether that is related to the neck issue that popped up on Thursday's injury report. Regardless, his full practice participation indicates that he will be ready for the Vikings' Week 1 contest against the Bears on Monday. Van Ginkel is coming off a career-best season in 2024, when he finished with 79 tackles (50 solo), including 11.5 sacks, two pick-sixes and one forced fumble across 17 regular-season games.

Smith previously missed practices for personal reasons, but the veteran safety appears to be battling through an illness. His practice participation over the next two days will determine his availability for Monday's regular-season opener against Chicago. Nailor (hand) practiced fully Thursday.
Nailor suffered a hand injury in practice Aug. 14 and was sidelined until getting back on the field for Wednesday's unofficial session. With no limitations to speak of one day later, he's set to handle WR reps behind veterans Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen to begin the season due to Jordan Addison's three-game suspension. In a part-time role last year, Nailor gathered in 28 of 42 targets for 414 yards and six touchdowns in 17 regular-season games.

Vikings' Justin Jefferson: Avoids injury report
Jefferson (hamstring) wasn't listed on the Vikings' initial Week 1 injury report Thursday.
Jefferson suffered a mild left hamstring strain in practice July 24, and while he was able to begin working out on the side with team trainers within one week, he didn't return to the practice field until Aug. 18. The Vikings kept him out of all three of their preseason games with an eye toward him being healthy Week 1. He more or less confirmed as much Thursday, telling Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune that his hamstring feels great entering the season. "Missing the whole training camp and just staying in that training room definitely gets [to be] dark days, being by yourself and competing with yourself, but you got to think about the ending result: having a healthy body, having a strong body to maintain a full season," Jefferson said. He thus is poised to serve as the Vikings' top target for second-year pro and first-year starting QB J.J. McCarthy on Monday in Chicago and beyond.
