Commanders' Jonathan Jones: Back to full health
Jones (hamstring) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
The 31-year-old cornerback rested during Friday's practice after recording limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Jones, a nine-year NFL veteran, logged 58 total tackles, six passes defended and two forced fumbles for the Patriots in 2024. He's expected to provide depth to the Commanders' secondary this season, likely playing behind Trey Amos and Marshon Lattimore.

Commanders' Dorance Armstrong: Ready to rock
Armstrong (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Armstrong was held to limited participation both Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday's full practice session indicates he's moved past his knee issue in time to play Sunday. The veteran defensive end tallied 39 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defended across 16 regular-season contests in 2024. He's expected to remain a starter on Washington's defensive line heading into the 2025 season.

Commanders' Noah Brown: Avoids injury designation
Brown (knee/rest) didn't practice Friday but doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Listed as a limited participant the previous two days, Brown apparently showed enough to gain clearance for the season opener, although his knee requires maintenance. It's unclear if missing most of the summer will impact his depth-chart standing for Week 1; he entered training camp as the favorite for the No. 3 WR job but now could lose work to Jaylin Lane and/or Luke McCaffrey. Either way, Brown isn't likely to see many targets while both Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel remain healthy.

Commanders' Jonathan Jones: Logs limited practice Thursday
Jones (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Jones is working through a hamstring injury, which has limited his participation in each of the first two practices of the week. He would avoid an injury tag heading into Week 1 against the Giants on Sunday were he to log a full practice Friday. Jones signed a one-year contract with the Commanders in March after spending the first nine years of his NFL career with the Patriots, and the veteran is expected to serve in a rotational role with Trey Amos, Marshon Lattimore and Mike Sainristil at corner.

Commanders' Dorance Armstrong: Another limited session
Armstrong (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
The 2018 fourth-rounder opened the week with back-to-back limited practices due to a knee injury, and he would avoid an injury tag for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Giants if he were to log a full practice Friday. Armstrong signed a three-year contract with the Commanders in March of 2024, and in his first regular season with Washington he logged 39 tackles (20 solo), including 5.0 sacks, one pass defense and two forced fumbles across 16 games.

Commanders' Noah Brown: Remains limited Thursday
Brown (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Brown has been limited in both of the Commanders' first two Week 1 sessions, so he may need to upgrade to full participation Friday to avoid carrying a designation into Sunday's game against the Giants. The 29-year-old projects to open the season as the Commanders' No. 3 wideout behind Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel, a role that may not translate to consistent target volume on a weekly basis.
