Cowboys' Malik Hooker: Logs nine tackles Week 1
2m agoHooker tallied nine tackles (four solo) during the Cowboys' 24-20 loss to the Eagles on Thursday.
Hooker tied with Kenneth Murray for the most tackles on the Cowboys, and the duo each played all 63 defensive snaps in Thursday's regular-season opener. Hooker played 1,008 defensive snaps last season and will operate as an every-down safety alongside Donovan Wilson in 2025. The Cowboys host the NFC East rival Giants on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Xavier Worthy KC WR
Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Exits Friday's game
19m agoWorthy is questionable to return to Friday's game against the Chargers in Sao Paolo, Brazil due to a shoulder injury.
Worthy was a victim of some friendly fire on the Chiefs' opening possession when he was sideswiped by TE Travis Kelce on an underneath route. He remained down for a bit before making his way to the sideline in visible pain. After team trainers checked him out, Worthy then made his way to the locker room.

Barryn Sorrell GB DE
Packers' Barryn Sorrell: Questionable to play Week 1
36m agoSorrell (knee) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Wes Hodklewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
The rookie fourth-rounder has been limited in practice all week while tending to a left knee injury. Sorrell is expected to serve in a rotational role at defensive end and could see additional work on defense if the Packers elect to limit Micah Parsons' (back) snap count.
-
Blake Fisher HOU OT
Texans' Blake Fisher: Ready to roll for season opener
40m agoFisher does not have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Rams.
Fisher suffered an ankle injury during the preseason and began the week as a limited participant in practice. However, he engaged in a full session Friday and will be ready to serve as a depth tackle against the Rams.
-

1h agoVanSumeren was diagnosed with a torn patella tendon Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
VanSumeren suffered the injury on the opening kickoff of Philadelphia's Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys. He was placed on injured reserve earlier Friday and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
-
Malcolm Roach DEN DT
Broncos' Malcolm Roach: Won't suit up vs. Titans
1h agoRoach (calf) is listed as out for Sunday's game versus Tennessee, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Roach popped up on Denver's injury report with a calf issue Thursday before missing practice Friday, and now he'll have to sit out Sunday. In his stead, Jordan Jackson could see an increased snap count on the defensive line in Week 1.
-
Reese McGuire CHC C
Cubs' Reese McGuire: Goes deep in win
2m agoMcGuire went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 11-5 win over the Nationals.
McGuire was making his second straight start for a resting Carson Kelly, and the former delivered his eighth home run of the season Friday. The veteran backstop has been thrust into a more prominent role this year with Miguel Amaya being limited to only 28 games so far due to a sprained ankle and an oblique injury before that. McGuire has limited fantasy upside in his backup role, and Kelly should be back in the lineup soon.

Michael King SD SP
Padres' Michael King: Tracking toward return next week
4m agoKing (knee) made a five-inning start Thursday in a bridge game in Arizona and appears on track to return from the 15-day injured list next week, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. "Fielded his position, felt good afterwards and felt good [Friday,]" Shildt said of King.
After completing a four-inning simulated game Aug. 29 followed by a bullpen session Monday, King had pushed for a return to the San Diego rotation this weekend in Colorado, but the Padres instead elected to have him make a start in Arizona, where he faced off against an assortment of Complex League prospects. Assuming King checks out fine during his next bullpen session, the Padres could clear him for a return to the rotation as soon as Tuesday's game against the Reds in San Diego.

Pete Crow-Armstrong CHC CF
Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Drives in two, swipes base Friday
7m agoCrow-Armstrong went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a stolen base and two RBI in Friday's 11-5 win over the Nationals.
After being held out of the lineup in each of his last two games amid a slump, Crow-Armstrong returned Friday with a much-improved performance. The speedy outfielder is still batting just .206 over his last 10 games, and he's gone deep just once in his last 37 contests, but Crow-Armstrong is too talented to keep out of fantasy lineups. He's now up to 32 stolen bases on the season, and he's added 28 home runs for a full stat line.
-
Nico Hoerner CHC 2B
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes deep in win
16m agoHoerner went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBI and two total runs scored in Friday's 11-5 win over the Nationals.
Hoerner tallied his fifth multi-hit performance in his last 10 games as the Chicago infielder stayed hot at the plate. While not known for his power, the 28-year-old has also gone deep twice during this 10-game stretch after hitting only four home runs in his previous 125 games. Hoerner will continue to derive most of his fantasy value moving forward from his strong contact skills and his speed, as he has 23 stolen bases this year in 27 attempts.
-
Dansby Swanson CHC SS
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Launches 22nd home run
27m agoSwanson went 1-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 11-5 win over the Nationals.
Swanson now has four home runs in his last eight games and 22 for the season. That puts him five behind his career high of 27 long balls, which he recorded back in 2021 while playing for Atlanta. Swanson is also up to 70 RBI on the year, though he has some work to do to match his career best of 96 RBI. The Chicago shortstop has tacked on 12 stolen bases in 2025, giving him double figures in homers and steals for the fifth time in his career.
-
Ian Happ CHC LF
Cubs' Ian Happ: Homers, scores four times Friday
32m agoHapp went 1-for-2 with three walks, a solo home run and four total runs scored in Friday's 11-5 win over the Nationals.
Happ demonstrated both his patient eye at the plate as well as his burgeoning power stroke. The veteran outfielder now has 20 home runs in a season for the fifth time in his nine-year MLB career, and he's gone deep four times in his last seven games. Dating back to the beginning of August, Happ is now batting .282 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored across 31 contests.

Spurs' Dylan Harper: Undergoes thumb surgery
2h agoThe Spurs announced Harper underwent surgery on his injured left thumb Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Harper was selected No. 2 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft and is expected to be a big part of the future for the storied franchise. The team hopes he'll be ready for the start of the 2025-26 campaign, which will get underway on Oct. 22 on the road against the Mavericks.

Thomas Sorber OKC C
Thunder's Thomas Sorber: Suffers torn ACL
3h agoThe Thunder announced Friday that Sorber has sustained a torn ACL in his right knee during an offseason workout, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Sorber was selected No. 15 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Georgetown by the reigning NBA champions. The rookie center was already dealing with a foot injury that cut his season with the Hoyas short and kept him out of the Summer League. Now he'll likely have to wait until the 2026-27 campaign to make his debut on the professional level.
-
Trey Lyles SAC PF
Trey Lyles: Inks deal with Real Madrid
1d agoLyles signed a contract with Real Madrid on Thursday, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Lyles spent his third straight season with the Kings during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 69 appearances. He's since elected to try his hand overseas, where he'll suit up for Real Madrid of the EuroLeague and should immediately take on a significant role.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper MEM SF
Grizzlies' Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Joins Memphis on two-way deal
1d agoProsper (wrist) signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies on Thursday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
The Mavericks were forced to let go of Prosper in order to sign Dante Exum. Charania notes that Prosper generated a lot of interest elsewhere before he ultimately agreed to join the Grizzlies. Because he's on a two-way deal, Prosper could spend a lot of time with the Memphis Hustle in the G League to open the season.
-
Cam Thomas BKN SG
Nets' Cam Thomas: Signs qualifying offer
1d agoThomas (hamstring) signed his one-year, $6 million qualifying offer with the Nets on Thursday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
Thomas and the Nets were unable to reach a long-term agreement. By signing this qualifying offer, Thomas will have a full no-trade clause and will be able to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason. Charania notes that at least 10 NBA teams will be positioned to have ample cap space, and Thomas will have plenty of motivation to produce a big season. Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 31.2 minutes per game last season, but he appeared in only 25 regular-season contests because of hamstring injuries.
-
Javan Johnson ATL SF
Hawks' Javan Johnson: With Atlanta for training camp
2d agoThe Hawks signed Johnson to an Exhibit 10 contract Wednesday, Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot reports.
Johnson will join Atlanta for training camp, averaging 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the G League last season on 44/40/90 shooting. The 26-year-old will face an uphill battle to make the Hawks roster.
-
Georgi Romanov SJ G
Devils' Georgi Romanov: Earns PTO with New Jersey
2h agoRomanov signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Romanov earned no NHL interest during free agency, so he will attempt to earn himself a contract while on a tryout in New Jersey. He saw limited action with the Sharks over the last two years, going 0-6-0 with 28 goals allowed on 249 shots over 10 appearances. With three goalies already on NHL contracts, Romanov doesn't have a good chance of seeing NHL action in 2025-26.
-
Luke Glendening TB C
Devils' Luke Glendening: Receives tryout offer
3h agoGlendening signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Glendening was limited to seven points in 77 regular-season games with the Lightning last year. The 36-year-old hasn't found work in free agency yet, and he'll be competing with fellow tryout candidate Kevin Rooney for a chance to make the Devils' 2025-26 roster.
-
Kevin Rooney CGY C
Devils' Kevin Rooney: Gets tryout offer from New Jersey
3h agoRooney signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Rooney will compete for the fourth-line center job with the Devils during training camp. If he performs well, he'll be in contention for a full contract, likely a two-way deal. He played on a $1.3 million contract with the Flames last year but racked up just 10 points with 109 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 70 appearances.
-
Derek Ryan EDM C
Derek Ryan: Hanging up skates
3h agoRyan ended his playing career Friday.
Ryan suited up in 606 regular-season games after going undrafted. He carved out a solid career as a defensive specialist and still managed to rack up 82 goals and 127 assists in the regular season, as well as 10 points in 60 playoff contests. Ryan played for the Hurricanes, Flames and Oilers during his time in the NHL.
-
Carey Price MON G
Sharks' Carey Price: Contract acquired by San Jose
4h agoPrice's (knee) contract and a 2026 fifth-round pick were traded to the Sharks from the Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Gannon Laroque on Friday.
Price has been dealing with a knee issue since 2022, and he said in September of 2023 that he doesn't intend to play hockey again, so Friday's move will simply save the Canadiens some cap space. The 38-year-old will likely remain on long-term injured reserve until his contract expires in 2026.
-
Connor Zary CGY C
Flames' Connor Zary: Agrees to three-year deal
4h agoZary (knee) inked a three-year, $11.325 million contract with Calgary on Friday, per Eric Francis of Sportsnet.
Zary, who was a restricted free agent this summer, missed Calgary's final 11 games of 2024-25 due to his knee injury. He had 13 goals and 27 points in 54 appearances with the Flames as a sophomore last year, which represented a bit of a regression from his 34 points in 63 outings in 2023-24. Although his offensive numbers haven't stood out yet, the 23-year-old (24 on Sept. 25) does have the potential to improve meaningfully over the length of this contract. He should get a good opportunity to take a step forward in a top-six capacity this season.
