Hurricanes' Givani Smith: Snags PTO
Smith inked a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Smith was in action for 13 regular-season games last year for Colorado and San Jose, in which he failed to register a point while picking up 18 PIM, five shots and 20 hits. If he secures a deal from the Canes, it will almost certainly be a two-way contract that will allow the 27-year-old winger to be shifted between levels easily.

Hurricanes' Oliver Kylington: Signs with Carolina
Kylington signed a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kylington has spent seven seasons in the NHL, playing 220 games between the Flames and Ducks. He's totaled 18 goals, 42 assists, 225 blocked shots and 117 hits. However, he had a much more limited impact during the 2024-25 campaign, logging just one goal, four assists and 18 blocked shots while averaging 12:18 of ice time over 19 appearances. He'll have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Hurricanes this fall.

Hurricanes' Ivan Ryabkin: Secures ELC
Ryabkin agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on Wednesday.
Ryabkin, who was selected by the Canes with the 62nd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, should still be considered a longshot to make the Opening Night roster despite inking his entry-level deal. The 18-year-old center made the jump to North America last year, racking up 19 goals and 11 helpers in 27 games for USHL Muskegon. It's possible Ryabkin gets a cup of coffee with the Hurricanes to start the year before heading back to juniors, but he figures to primarily be a target in dynasty or keeper formats for now.

Hurricanes' Jayden Perron: Transfers to Wolverines
Perron will play for the University of Michigan this season after transferring from the University of North Dakota.
Perron notched 10 goals and nine helpers in 31 games for the Fighting Hawks, nearly identical numbers compared to his first season with UND, in which he generated 18 points in 30 contests. Ice time may not be any easier to come by with the Wolverines, so the move comes with significant risk to the 2023 third-round pick's long-term development.

Hurricanes' Jackson Blake: Locks in long term with Carolina
Blake signed an eight-year, $45 million contract extension with the Hurricanes on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Blake is entering the final year of his entry-level contract in 2025-26, but his long-term future with the Hurricanes is now secure. The 21-year-old put up 17 goals, 34 points, 141 shots on net and a plus-10 rating over 80 regular-season appearances in 2024-25 and added six points in 15 playoff outings. He's already established himself as a regular in the top six and should also see time on the second power-play unit at a minimum. There's some risk of a sophomore slump this year, but Blake has a bright future ahead while playing for a perennial contender.

Hurricanes' Ronan Seeley: Receives two-way contract
Seeley agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Monday.
Seeley was a seventh-round selection by Carolina in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year-old accounted for three goals, 10 points and a minus-6 rating over 69 regular-season games with AHL Chicago in 2024-25. The left-shot defenseman has yet to make his NHL debut, so he'll most likely spend most of 2025-26 with the Wolves for a fourth consecutive year.

Hurricanes' Ryan Suzuki: Pens one-year deal
Suzuki signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Monday.
Suzuki made his NHL debut in January but was held off the scoresheet in two regular-season games. The 24-year-old fared much better with AHL Chicago, generating 12 goals and 47 assists across 69 regular-season outings. The 2019 first-round pick will most likely spend the majority of 2025-26 in the minors since the Hurricanes have plenty of depth up front.

Hurricanes' Domenick Fensore: Secures two-way deal
Fensore signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Wednesday.
Fensore appeared in just two NHL games last year in which he generated five shots, three hits and two PIM while being held off the scoresheet. The Boston University product was significantly more productive in the minors with nine goals and 23 helpers in 67 regular-season tilts with AHL Chicago. While the 2019 third-round pick could see a little more action with the Canes this year, he figures once again to spend the bulk of his minutes in the minors.

Hurricanes' Skyler Brind'Amour: Staying in Carolina's organization
Brind'Amour penned a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Hurricanes on Monday, per PuckPedia.
Brind'Amour appeared in two regular-season games with the Hurricanes in 2024-25, scoring his first career NHL goal on his only shot. The left-shot forward also recorded 16 goals, 24 points and a minus-14 rating over 68 regular-season appearances with AHL Chicago. Carolina has a deep forward group, and considering Brind'Amour's new deal is a two-way contract, he's likely to spend the whole campaign with the Wolves unless multiple injuries open up a spot with the big club.

Hurricanes' Gavin Bayreuther: Inks two-way deal
Bayreuther agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Friday.
Bayreuther hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2022-23 when he was with the Blue Jackets. That season, the 31-year-old blueliner notched two goals and 12 helpers in 51 tilts while averaging 15:57 of ice time. It certainly seemed like the New Hampshire native was close to becoming a full-time NHL option, but instead spent last year playing overseas with Lausanne HC, notching five goals and 18 helpers in 52 regular-season contests. At this point, if Bayreuther logs any NHL minutes, it will probably be the result of an injury among the Hurricanes' defensive group.

Hurricanes' Nikolaj Ehlers: Lands six-year deal
Ehlers agreed to terms on a six-year, $51 million contract with Carolina on Thursday.
Ehlers is coming off back-to-back 20-plus goal campaigns, including the 2024-25 season in which he still managed to rack up 24 goals despite playing in just 69 regular-season contests. With his new club, the 29-year-old winger should immediately slot into a top-six role in addition to joining the No. 1 power-play unit. Ehlers' presence in the lineup should allow Taylor Hall to drop down to the third line, where he may be better suited at this point in his career.

Primeau has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Hurricanes, the team announced Tuesday.
Primeau was a restricted free agent when he was acquired by Carolina from Montreal on Monday in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick. The 25-year-old dominated with AHL Laval during the 2024-25 regular season, posting a 21-2-3 record, 1.92 GAA and .927 save percentage across 26 appearances. The Hurricanes are likely to open the season with Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov as their NHL goaltenders, but Primeau should be the first netminder promoted in the event of an injury.

Miller has emerged as a top-four option early in his career, but the Hurricanes' intensity in their own zone should still provide him a challenge while playing to his strengths as a physical force.
