Georgi Romanov SJ G
Devils' Georgi Romanov: Earns PTO with New Jersey
2h agoRomanov signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Romanov earned no NHL interest during free agency, so he will attempt to earn himself a contract while on a tryout in New Jersey. He saw limited action with the Sharks over the last two years, going 0-6-0 with 28 goals allowed on 249 shots over 10 appearances. With three goalies already on NHL contracts, Romanov doesn't have a good chance of seeing NHL action in 2025-26.

Luke Glendening TB C
Devils' Luke Glendening: Receives tryout offer
2h agoGlendening signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Glendening was limited to seven points in 77 regular-season games with the Lightning last year. The 36-year-old hasn't found work in free agency yet, and he'll be competing with fellow tryout candidate Kevin Rooney for a chance to make the Devils' 2025-26 roster.

Kevin Rooney CGY C
Devils' Kevin Rooney: Gets tryout offer from New Jersey
3h agoRooney signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.
Rooney will compete for the fourth-line center job with the Devils during training camp. If he performs well, he'll be in contention for a full contract, likely a two-way deal. He played on a $1.3 million contract with the Flames last year but racked up just 10 points with 109 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 70 appearances.
-
Derek Ryan EDM C
Derek Ryan: Hanging up skates
3h agoRyan ended his playing career Friday.
Ryan suited up in 606 regular-season games after going undrafted. He carved out a solid career as a defensive specialist and still managed to rack up 82 goals and 127 assists in the regular season, as well as 10 points in 60 playoff contests. Ryan played for the Hurricanes, Flames and Oilers during his time in the NHL.

Carey Price MON G
Sharks' Carey Price: Contract acquired by San Jose
4h agoPrice's (knee) contract and a 2026 fifth-round pick were traded to the Sharks from the Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Gannon Laroque on Friday.
Price has been dealing with a knee issue since 2022, and he said in September of 2023 that he doesn't intend to play hockey again, so Friday's move will simply save the Canadiens some cap space. The 38-year-old will likely remain on long-term injured reserve until his contract expires in 2026.
-
Connor Zary CGY C
Flames' Connor Zary: Agrees to three-year deal
4h agoZary (knee) inked a three-year, $11.325 million contract with Calgary on Friday, per Eric Francis of Sportsnet.
Zary, who was a restricted free agent this summer, missed Calgary's final 11 games of 2024-25 due to his knee injury. He had 13 goals and 27 points in 54 appearances with the Flames as a sophomore last year, which represented a bit of a regression from his 34 points in 63 outings in 2023-24. Although his offensive numbers haven't stood out yet, the 23-year-old (24 on Sept. 25) does have the potential to improve meaningfully over the length of this contract. He should get a good opportunity to take a step forward in a top-six capacity this season.

John-Randall Avon PHI C
Kraken's JR Avon: Dealt to Seattle
1d agoAvon was traded to Seattle from Philadelphia in exchange for Tucker Robertson on Thursday.
Avon has spent the last two seasons with AHL Lehigh Valley, managing seven goals and 10 assists across 60 regular-season games in 2024-25. He will likely suit up for AHL Coachella Valley during the 2025-26 campaign.
-
Jared McCann SEA C
Kraken's Jared McCann: Healthy ahead of camp
2d agoMcCann (undisclosed) is not listed with an injury on the Kraken's official training camp roster released Wednesday.
McCann underwent a surgery after the 2024-25 campaign to address an injury that he played through for most of the campaign. The 29-year-old's recovery time was listed as six weeks, so it's not a surprise that he is healthy and ready to go for 2025-26. McCann figures to spend the upcoming season in a top-six role and on the first power-play unit.
-
Brett Leason ANA RW
Wild's Brett Leason: Inks PTO
10h agoLeason signed a professional tryout agreement with the Wild on Friday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Leason spent last season with the Ducks, tallying five goals, 12 assists, 79 shots on goal and 64 hits across 62 regular-season games. The 26-year-old will look to secure a spot as a bottom-six forward with Minnesota in training camp.
-
Daniil Prokhorov NYI RW
Islanders' Daniil Prokhorov: Staying in KHL
1d agoProkhorov has been loaned to Dynamo Moscow for the 2025-26 season, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports Thursday.
Prokhorov's situation got complicated when he signed his entry-level deal with the Islanders just days after having secured a KHL deal with Dynamo -- a contract that has since been voided as a result of his ELC. There was some speculation that the youngster would spend the upcoming season in the OHL with Sarnia, but instead, he will return to Dynamo for at least one more year before potentially making the jump to North America.
-
Max McCormick SEA LW
Kraken's Max McCormick: Dealing with injury
2d agoMcCormick is listed with an undisclosed injury on the Kraken's official training camp roster released Wednesday.
McCormick was limited to 19 games with AHL Coachella Valley last season, picking up 13 points. He is in the last season of his two-year, two-way contract and is a long shot to see much time with the Kraken, particularly if the injury lingers throughout the preseason and into the regular season.
-
Matthew Tkachuk FLA LW
Panthers' Matthew Tkachuk: Expected to miss start of campaign
2d agoTkachuk (groin) is expected to be unavailable for the start of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing surgery in August, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports.
Pagnotta believes Tkachuk might be on the shelf until January. If that ends up being the case, then Tkachuk would miss the first 39 games of the regular season. Tkachuk was a key member of the Panthers' 2025 Stanley Cup championship, recording eight goals, 23 points, 33 PIM and 46 hits in 23 playoff outings, and he did so despite playing with a torn adductor muscle. It seems that he'll need some time to recover from that injury before he can go back to serving in a top-six capacity for the Panthers.
-
Daniil Prokhorov NYI RW
Islanders' Daniil Prokhorov: Inks entry-level deal
3d agoProkhorov agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with the Islanders on Tuesday.
Prokhorov had just signed a two-year, two-way contract in the KHL, but according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com, that deal included an NHL out clause that has now been triggered. At this point, the 18-year-old winger is expected to link up with OHL Sarnia for the upcoming campaign, but he could get a look during training camp.

Daniil Prokhorov NYI RW
Islanders' Daniil Prokhorov: Signs two-year KHL deal
7d agoProkhorov agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with Dynamo Moscow on Friday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
With a new KHL contract in hand, it appears Isles fans will have to wait two more years to see Prokhorov make the jump to North America. Selected by the organization with the 42nd pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, it was unlikely the 18-year-old was going to make the move ahead of 2025-26, but it could have been an option next season. Barring a disappointing stint in the KHL, Prokhorov could be in contention for a roster spot in the lead-up to 2027-28.
-
Jacob MacDonald COL D
Avalanche's Jacob MacDonald: Undergoes hip surgery
1d agoMacDonald underwent successful hip surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss 5-6 months.
MacDonald didn't appear in the NHL last year but had a stellar season with AHL Colorado, racking up 31 goals, 24 assists, 46 PIM and a plus-24 rating over 63 appearances with the Eagles. However, the 32-year-old is expected to miss most of the 2025-26 campaign following his procedure.
-
Zayne Parekh CGY D
Flames' Zayne Parekh: Back on ice
2d agoParekh (lower body) took to the ice Wednesday, per Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.
Parekh appears to be back up to speed after he missed part of the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase for precautionary reasons due to his injury. Even when the announcement about him missing the remainder of the showcase was made back in July, he was still expected to be a full participant at training camp, so everything seems to be on track. Parekh will be in the mix for a spot on Calgary's Opening Night roster after scoring a goal in his NHL debut April 17. He also had 33 goals, 107 points and 96 PIM across 61 regular-season appearances with OHL Saginaw in 2024-25.
-
Martin Fehervary WAS D
Capitals' Martin Fehervary: Participating in informal workouts
3d agoFehervary (knee) was on the ice for Tuesday's informal skate and is expected to be ready for camp, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Fehervary was previously described as being "into just normal training phase" by General Manager Chris Patrick, so his presence at offseason workouts certainly seems to clear the way for him to be ready to go this year. In 81 regular-season games last year, the 25-year-old blueliner set new personal bests in goals (five) and assists (20), reaching the 20-point threshold for the first time in his five-year NHL career.
-
Daniel Walcott TB D
Daniel Walcott: Ending playing career
7d agoWalcott announced his retirement from professional hockey Friday.
Walcott spent the bulk of his time with AHL Syracuse and ends his career as the Crunch's all-time leader in games played with 494. He made one NHL appearance with the Lightning back in 2020-21 as well.
-
Josh Morrissey WPG D
Jets' Josh Morrissey: Healthy ahead of training camp
9d agoMorrissey (knee) is at full health ahead of training camp, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports Wednesday.
Morrissey is on Team Canada's list for its Olympic orientation camp, and he is participating on the ice. Morrissey suffered a similar injury to his opposite knee a couple of years ago, and he was able to get back to on-ice activities earlier in the summer, so he has had a fairly normal offseason routine. In addition to his Olympic hopes, the 30-year-old is poised to play a massive role on the Jets' top pairing and first power-play unit in the 2025-26 NHL campaign. He exceeded the 60-point mark for the third year in a row during the 2024-25 regular season.
-
Oliver Kylington ANA D
Hurricanes' Oliver Kylington: Signs with Carolina
9d agoKylington signed a professional tryout agreement with the Hurricanes on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kylington has spent seven seasons in the NHL, playing 220 games between the Flames and Ducks. He's totaled 18 goals, 42 assists, 225 blocked shots and 117 hits. However, he had a much more limited impact during the 2024-25 campaign, logging just one goal, four assists and 18 blocked shots while averaging 12:18 of ice time over 19 appearances. He'll have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Hurricanes this fall.

Price has been dealing with a knee issue since 2022, and he said in September of 2023 that he doesn't intend to play hockey again, so Friday's move will simply save the Canadiens some cap space. The 38-year-old will likely remain on long-term injured reserve until his contract expires in 2026.
-
Aaron Dell LA G
Aaron Dell: Ends playing career
2d agoDell retired from professional hockey Wednesday, Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald reports.
Dell spent 2024-25 with AHL San Jose after being released from a professional tryout during training camp. The 36-year-old netminder retires as a veteran of 130 NHL regular-season games, posting a record of 50-50-13 with a 2.92 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He represented the Sharks, Devils and Sabres after going undrafted and playing collegiate hockey at the University of North Dakota.
-
Connor Ingram UTA G
Mammoth's Connor Ingram: Activated Wednesday
16d agoIngram (personal) was cleared to return to on-ice activities by the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program on Wednesday, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Ingram has completed his stint in the program, which began in March. He missed the last 19 games of 2024-25 for Utah after posting a 9-8-4 record, 3.27 GAA and .882 save percentage over 22 contests. Ingram will be in competition with Vitek Vanecek for the backup job during the Mammoth's training camp, though Karel Vejmelka is likely cemented in the starting role.
-
Dylan Garand NYR G
Rangers' Dylan Garand: Extends with NYR
19d agoGarand signed a one-year contract extension with the Rangers, the team announced Sunday.
Garand is coming off an impressive year with AHL Hartford, going 20-10-8 with a 2.73 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 39 games. He was a restricted free agent prior to agreeing to this extension with the team. The 23-year-old will probably continue to play in the AHL but would likely be the first goaltender called up should an injury strike either Igor Shesterkin or Jonathan Quick.
-
Semyon Varlamov NYI G
Islanders' Semyon Varlamov: Slated to resume skating
30d agoVarlamov (knee) is projected to skate next week, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports Wednesday.
Varlamov hasn't played since Nov. 29 and underwent knee surgery in December. He might be ready for training camp, but even if he is, Varlamov's position as the Islanders' backup goaltender behind Ilya Sorokin might not be secure. David Rittich is set to challenge for that spot after signing a one-year contract over the summer. The 37-year-old Varlamov was underwhelming in 2024-25 before getting injured with a 3-4-3 record, 2.89 GAA and .889 save percentage in 10 outings.
