Rockies' Yanquiel Fernandez: Sitting again Friday
Fernandez is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Padres on Friday.
Even with the Padres sending right-hander Nick Pivetta to the mound, the lefty-hitting Fernandez will be on the bench for a second straight game while Tyler Freeman serves as the designated hitter. Fernandez has gone 7-for-17 (.412) with two home runs and four RBI over his last five games.

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Returning to hill Friday
Freeland is slated to start Friday's game against the Padres at Coors Field.
Freeland will technically be taking the hill on just two days' rest, but he's unlikely to face any workload restrictions. During his start in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Giants, Freeland tossed just eight pitches before he was ejected in the first inning after taking exception to Rafael Devers' celebration of his two-run home run, which incited a fracas. The veteran southpaw heads into Friday's start with a 3-14 record, 5.41 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 97:34 K:BB in 131.1 innings on the season.

Rockies' Roldy Brito: Wild numbers for Grizzlies
Brito is slashing .364/.438/.446 with one home run, 13 steals, a 10.1 percent walk rate and a 17.3 percent strikeout rate in 30 games for Single-A Fresno.
The 18-year-old switch hitter has made 18 starts in center field and 11 starts at second base since getting promoted from the Arizona Complex League on July 30. Brito has a .457 BABIP this season, so we shouldn't take his numbers at face value. Brito's high groundball rate (56.6 percent) is contributing to his lack of notable power. He is a true pop-up prospect, as he isn't featured on some notable public Rockies prospect lists, but Baseball America graded his future power as above-average and his speed as plus, so Brito has a high fantasy ceiling, especially if he can get to more of his raw power in games.

Rockies' Cole Carrigg: Suspended at Double-A
Carrigg was suspended on Sept. 2 at Double-A Hartford after getting ejected from an Aug. 31 game against Portland.
Carrigg slammed his helmet after getting called out on an attempted steal of third base and was ejected and then made a scene in between innings arguing with the umpire who ejected him. It's unclear how many games he will miss, but Hartford's season wraps up Sept. 14. Carrigg's hit tool looked stronger a year ago, as his strikeout rate jumped from 19 percent at High-A to 27.8 percent at Double-A while his batting average dipped from .280 to .234. He is an excellent athlete and has logged 40-plus steals in back-to-back seasons while showcasing average pull-side power. A 107 wRC+ is a middling mark for a 23-year-old at Double-A, but if Carrigg can find his way into a regular role for the Rockies in a year or two, his speed will make him valuable in fantasy, at least in his home games.

Rockies' German Marquez: Struggles in no-decision
Marquez allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two batters over five innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Wednesday.
Marquez seemed destined for a loss when the Giants scored four times over the first three innings, but Colorado's offense plated five runs across the fourth and fifth frames to take him off the hook. It was nonetheless a rough outing for the veteran hurler, who has now given up 12 runs over 9.1 innings since returning from the injured list Aug. 29. Marquez has given up four or more earned runs 10 times in 22 starts this season, which helps explain his 6.19 season ERA.

Rockies' Ryan Rolison: Sent back to Triple-A
The Rockies optioned Rolison to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Rolison was recalled from Albuquerque on Monday when the Rockies' active roster expanded from 26 to 28 men, but he'll end up heading back to the minors just two days later after Colorado needed to make room for waiver-wire pickup Roansy Contreras. The left-handed Rolison has made 27 appearances (one start) for Colorado this season, logging a 7.15 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over 39 innings.

Rockies' Yanquiel Fernandez: Exiting starting nine vs. lefty
Fernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Though he'll head to the bench while southpaw Robbie Ray takes the hill for the Giants, the left-handed-hitting Fernandez has gained traction in the everyday lineup versus right-handed pitching. He started in each of the last five matchups with righties, going 7-for-17 with two home runs, two doubles, four RBI and three runs during that stretch.

Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Checking back into lineup
Bernabel (knee/quadriceps) will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Bernabel will return to the lineup for the first time since Saturday, after a left knee and quad bruise confined him to the bench for the previous three contests. The Rockies turned to Kyle Farmer (two starts) and Orlando Arcia (one start) at first base while Bernabel was out.

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Homers, drives in four Tuesday
Goodman went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a 7-4 loss to the Giants on Tuesday.
Goodman socked his 27th homer of the season, and he tallied his ninth three-hit game of the year while racking up at least four RBI for the third time on the campaign. The 25-year-old backstop has broken out in a big way in 2025, turning in an .846 OPS as one of fantasy's top catchers. Better yet, Goodman is batting .286 with 35 extra-base hits, 49 RBI and 39 runs scored covering 245 at-bats (66 games) since the start of June.

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Ejected early Tuesday
Freeland was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Giants after benches cleared during the first inning, Suzie Hunter of GuerillaSports.net reports.
Freeland's day came to an abrupt end after throwing just eight pitches and giving up a two-run homer to Rafael Devers without recording an out. The two players got into a heated exchange while Devers rounded the bases, which prompted a bench-clearing brawl that also led to ejections for Matt Chapman and Willy Adames. Freeland will carry a 5.41 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into his next start, and it remains to be seen whether he will receive further discipline from Major League Baseball.

Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Absence continuing Tuesday
Bernabel (knee/quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
The rookie corner infielder will sit for a third straight game as he continues to manage a bruised left knee and quad. Kyle Farmer is starting at first base Tuesday in place of Bernabel.

Rockies' Roansy Contreras: Claimed by Colorado
The Rockies claimed Contreras off waivers from the Orioles on Tuesday.
Contreras doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so he'll be added to the Rockies' 28-man active roster and will serve as a starter or long reliever. Before the Orioles designated him for assignment, Contreras tossed 4.1 scoreless innings as a bulk reliever last Wednesday against the Red Sox in what marked his 2025 MLB debut.

Rockies' Chase Dollander: Yields six runs in loss
Dollander (2-12) took the loss against San Francisco on Monday, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two batters over five innings.
Dollander was particularly hurt by the long ball Monday -- of the five hits he allowed, two left the park. The rookie righty didn't help himself with his wildness -- in addition to his three walks he also hit two batters, with both of the batters he plunked eventually coming around to score. Dollander continues to find the sledding tough in the majors; he hasn't earned a win since April 30 and has gone 0-9 with a 6.88 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 15 starts since that last victory. He's had a trip to the IL and a demotion to the minors over that period, but he seems likely to ride out the rest of the campaign in the Rockies' rotation despite his struggles.
