  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Sitting amid slump

Acuna is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Acuna is out of the lineup for the first time since being activated from the 10-day injured list Aug. 15. His absence comes in the middle of a 0-for-20 stretch at the plate, where Acuna is also striking out at a 38.1 percent clip. In Acuna's place, Jake Fraley will patrol right field.

  • Braves' Luke Williams: DFA'd by Atlanta

Atlanta designated Williams for assignment Thursday.

Williams went just 4-for-30 at the plate with Atlanta this season while recording five RBI and scoring five runs. Williams' defensive versatility could allow him to get claimed by another team, though he remains a non-factor on offense.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Recalled from Gwinnett

Atlanta recalled Hernandez from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

Hernandez will give manager Brian Snitker a fresh bullpen arm. The hard-throwing righty has a 2.72 ERA but also a 33:30 K:BB over 36.1 frames this season with the big club.

  • Braves' Jurickson Profar: Reinstated from paternity leave

Atlanta activated Profar from the paternity list Thursday.

Profar missed the final two games of the series against the Cubs while welcoming a new baby to the family, but he'll be ready for the start of the weekend series against the Mariners. The switch hitter is slashing .253/.386/.471 with nine homers and eight steals in the second half.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Belts game-winning homer

Kim went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.

The 29-year-old clubbed the first pitch he saw from Drew Pomeranz in the seventh inning over the left-field fence, erasing a 1-0 deficit in an eventual 5-1 win. Incredibly, it was the first home run by an Atlanta shortstop this season, as the team has gotten a league-low .535 OPS at the position in 2025. The long ball was the third of the year in 26 games for Kim, who should handle starting duties the rest of September after making his Atlanta debut Tuesday.

  • Braves' Bryce Elder: Keeps Cubs in check in win

Elder (6-9) notched the win Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing one unearned run on four hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out six.

It was the first start of the season with zero earned runs allowed for Elder, who issued no walks for the first time since his June 7 outing in San Francisco. The right-hander has been quite a boom-or-bust fantasy option over his last eight starts, during which he's permitted two runs or fewer in five outings and conceded five runs or greater in his three other appearances. Elder will be searching for some consistency in a scheduled rematch with the Cubs next week. He carries a 5.54 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 105:43 K:BB across 131.2 innings this year.

  • Braves' Ozzie Albies: Continues revival in second half

Albies went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a 5-1 win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

Albies ended Chicago's no-hit bid with a seventh-inning single, and he also launched his 15th homer of the campaign. While the second baseman has been a fantasy bust overall -- he has a .675 OPS in 2025 -- he's now tallied multiple hits in seven of his last nine outings amid his surge in the second half of the year. Since the All-Star break, Albies is slashing .283/.346/.474 with eight long balls, nine doubles, 34 RBI and five stolen bases over 191 plate appearances.

  • Braves' Nick Allen: Consigned to bench role

Allen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

As anticipated, Atlanta's waiver pickup of Ha-Seong Kim earlier in the week has resulted in Allen losing hold of his everyday role at shortstop. Kim will occupy the position for the second game in a row and will likely get an extended evaluation in September, leaving Allen to settle for limited playing time in a utility role. Allen offers strong defense at shortstop, but with a measly .534 OPS over 405 plate appearances on the season, he hasn't hit well enough to profile as a viable everyday player.

  • Braves' John Gil: Surging to close year

Gil is slashing .349/.439/.594 with five home runs, 11 steals, a 13 percent walk rate and a 17.9 percent strikeout rate in 26 games since getting activated from the 7-day injured list at Single-A Augusta on July 26.

Something seemingly clicked for Gil after he returned from injury, as he slashed .225/.321/.290 in 70 games for the GreenJackets from April 4 through July 10. Coming into the year, Gil was known as a strong defensive shortstop prospect with plus speed and questionable offensive potential. He is now up to 49 steals on the year and this late-season surge suggests Gil has more offensive upside than his season stats indicate.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Two hits in Atlanta debut

Kim went 2-for-4 in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

It was a nice beginning to his Atlanta tenure, as Kim got the start at shortstop and hit sixth in the order after being claimed off waivers from the Rays and activated from the IL earlier in the day. The 29-year-old infielder should be the team's starting SS for the rest of September as he tries to wrap up a tough, injury-plagued 2025 with a strong final month.

  • Braves' Eli White: Pops solo homer in loss

White went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Cubs.

White launched his eighth homer of the year and his first since Aug. 5 versus Milwaukee. Barring an injury to any of Atlanta's key players, the 31-year-old utility man should continue to play a part-time role to close out the campaign. For the season, White is batting a poor .233 with eight doubles, three triples, 31 RBI, 39 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 240 at-bats (95 games).

  • Braves' Joey Wentz: Season-high eight Ks in loss

Wentz (5-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk in four-plus innings. He struck out eight.

The season-high eight strikeouts salvaged what was a poor showing overall by Wentz. Although he generated a strong 13 whiffs Tuesday, the southpaw gave up at least four runs for the second time in his last three outings. Wentz still has a respectable 3.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 47:17 K:BB over 48.2 innings since joining Atlanta, though he's tentatively scheduled for another tough matchup against these same Cubs early next week.

  • Braves' Ha-Seong Kim: Activated from injured list

Atlanta activated Kim (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Kim was scooped up from the Rays via waivers Monday and now joins the active roster with his new club. The 29-year-old has been limited to only 24 games this season due to injury and has slashed an uninspiring .214/.290/.321 when on the field. However, Kim should operate as Atlanta's everyday shortstop down the stretch, and with a $16 million player option for 2026, he could be the team's regular at the position next season, as well.
