Kraken's Yanni Gourde to Miss 5-7 Weeks After Undergoing Hernia Surgery
Discussions surrounding Yanni Gourde's potential trade may decrease following his surgery for a sports hernia, which was performed by the Seattle Kraken on Friday.
The team has stated that Gourde will be out of action for five to seven weeks, extending beyond the March 7 NHL trade deadline.
Gourde's last game was on January 2, and he was placed on injured reserve just three days later.
The 33-year-old veteran has played in 35 games this season, recording six goals and 10 assists.
Gourde began his NHL career with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015-16 and spent six seasons with the team, helping them win the Stanley Cup in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He was selected by the Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft.
In his 580 career games, Gourde has tallied 132 goals and 200 assists, earning a plus-42 rating.
