"Announcement: Bears and CB Kyler Gordon Reach 3-Year, $40M Contract Extension Deal"
The Chicago Bears have reached an agreement with cornerback Kyler Gordon for a three-year contract extension worth $40 million, with $31.25 million guaranteed. This news was reported by multiple sources on Sunday evening.
Gordon, who is currently in the final year of his rookie contract, will now be tied to the Bears until the end of the 2028 season. His new deal will have an average annual value of $13.3 million, making him the highest-paid slot corner in the league, according to media reports.
Last season, Gordon started in 13 out of 15 games and recorded a total of 75 tackles, including four tackles for loss. He also had five passes defended, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.
Ryan Poles, the general manager of the Chicago Bears, selected Gordon as his first draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Gordon was taken in the second round, 39th overall, from the University of Washington.
At 25 years old, Gordon has accumulated 207 tackles, 1.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, five interceptions, 17 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in his 42 games (34 starts) career.
